| | Hi there everyone,my name is Martyn, thankyou for letting me join your forum,I have trained from a young age(about 12)when i first took shotokan,I did this all through highschool years and then fancied a change,I dit a bit of muay thai and kickboxing but didnt really fall in love(not knocking thai in any way)as iv never been a sport lover, just wanted to be able to fend for myself. After a bit of research i found jkd.I studied jkd for 10 years and it woz my love,I have trained with some excellent instructors over the years and if they read this(carl) thankyou.About the same time i started jkd,I read of a new guy on the scene,Mr G.Thompson, and from the get go concentrated on as geoff said"hit F***in hard".I have allways tried to concentrate my training on body mechanics and impact perfection rather than the techniques that came with them.I do not train jkd anymore(although I do,as it is more a way of life than an art)I loved the training and believe it gave me the base I needed. It woz through my jkd instructor I heard of Bert Poe(too l8 unfortunately RIP Bert) and woz lucky enough to see footage of bert teaching, and loved his simple heavy palm shots, and his (just hit em wiv one hand till they get heavy in your other hand!)I figured after the years I put in,surely I could practise this very simple approach, and still do now, this combined with other basics, body turning..head manipulation etc that I learned from the jkd, |
