Hi. My name is Rupert. I go by the name of Socrates on the other board. I live near Barcelona in Spain (hello, Steve) and I mainly train in wing chun, with lots of strength and conditioning. I´m interested in cross-training, particularly in combatives and things like that.
All the best,
Rupert

cheers, the town has gone a bit quiet at the minute, strange as all the hotels and the apartments where the bar is are full but nobody out drinking!

It takes a while to adjust to the Spanish sense of time. And then just when you think you´ve got it, September comes along and everything changes again...

Tell me about it! LOL

The apartments are fully booked up to the end of September but from October we can organise holidays and get a discount/commission which we intend to pass on to whoever comes, we already have a few wanting to visit and train with me so as we are here all year it will cover us for the closed season.

The most difficult concept to get around is 'manyana', the house was supposed to be ready in March and we only got the keys 3 weeks ago!!!!!!!!

I wqanted to have the gym running for the Summer but as our furniture and stuff from the UK was/is stored in what will be the gym, it has been put on hold.

"Mañana por la mañana" ("Tomorrow morning") is just an excuse, mate!

The thing you have to bear in mind is that people on the coast make nearly all their money from the middle of June to the middle of September. Loads of people work like lunatics for three months, then live very quietly for the rest of the year, slowly spending the money they´ve saved in the summer.

Spain is also a "low trust" society, like Italy. In other words, nobody will want to take a risk on a great new project in the summer because they assume that talk is cheap and if it doesn´t work, they´ll be screwed in the winter. They´d rather stick with something tried and tested and then give the new thing a break at the end of August to see if it works in the off-season...

Understand what you are saying the intention was to be up and running to the summer but it did not happen with the house and much of the bar as the place has been closed for 10 years and needed so much done to it and it is still an on-going preparation really for next year.

There is already a fair amount of local interest in my teaching Wing Chun so hopefully that will kick off soon.
