PostSubject: Unarmed Knife Defenses   Fri Oct 05, 2007 11:24 am

Hi Everyone,
I recently asked Bas about his thoughts on unarmed knife defenses. Below, in the next post, is his reply.

Take Care,
Lito

Hey there Lito.

A knife is one of the most dangerous weapons on the street, a gun, on
close
range, is easier, you grab the barrel and you shut the whole gun down
since
the bullet can only come out on one side. A knife can come from any
angle
and if it's a double blade, cut you also from any angle.
best thing is to control the hand that holds the knife, but that is
very
difficult to do, the Krav Maga guys are really good at this.

Or you have to block and than simultaneously hit the opponent and keep
on
hitting until he's down. I run and see if I can find a weapon, piece of

wood, or in a bar a bar stool. if you have no choice and have a little
bit
of time, maybe take of your shirt and wrap it around your left
hand/wrist
and block with that hand and counter with the strong. But man, I am not
a
big fan of knifes!

There are also all different ways to block and to hold, but that's for
every
situation different, like I said, this is a difficult one, sorry I
can't be
more of a help, again, Krav Maga gives you really good one!

Party on, got to go, but I had to do this question first!

Bas
