| Hi Bas,
After the recent Affliction event and the crowning of Fedor under the 'WAMMA' banner, what is your opinion on WAMMA's attempt to legitimise the unification of title belts in MMA?
Good idea in theory, and it works in this first instance as Fedor is universally recognised as the #1 Heavyweight (and Affliction have a strong enough heavyweight roster to keep that division chugging along), but is it possible so long as the UFC dont allow there top fighters to fight for different orgs?
What do WAMMA do about the other weight classes? Vitor Belfort and Matt Lindland have been rumoured to be fighting for the MW WAMMA belt at the next Affliction event, would this make a mockery of the whole WAMMA idea, as neither is the top ranked MW, or top contender? or is it a case of those guys being a good place to start the ball rolling and to get the belt on the scene, till the top contenders are available to fight them?
looking forward to your views,
all the best,
Toban |

| Hey Toban, Like you said, it's good to get the ball rolling, once people have the belt they will get challenged by top 10 guys and than the real champ will be the real champ. With the pay outs from Affliction and the production quality, I think that they are going to do really good. If they do really good than fighters from the UFC will see that there are great companies out there and maybe come over to Affliction because the payout is better, once that happens the real Champions will be really known. I agree with you, Belfort/Lindland are maybe not the best fight, although I think that Lindland is better than many people think he is. Belfort could be back training with Thompkins, again, like you mentioned, it's just to get the ball rolling, they have to start somewhere. party on! Bas |
