Hi Dave,

Hope you are well.

I read your latest article in MAI recently. You were very complimentary of the old school Martial Art pioneers. Making the point that these guys were almost a breed apart in their training regimes and their skill levels.

I'm curious how many of these guys if they had their time again would seek out good MMA tuition rather than the route they went down? Was their path in martial arts dictated by what was available to them or was it a conscious decision to follow a certain path because of research and a genuine belief in their systems?

I'm just wondering how much GOOD tuition was available in the UK for these guys to take advantage of and whether they would have gone in different directions if they had been presented with greater options?

I suppose that's at the crux of a lot of MA debates today. Is MMA an evolution that would have attracted the talented TMA guys or would they have maintained their stance (pun not intended Laughing ) and continued to study and have their TMA's work for them? From being around (and being one of) these guys do you think they were "seekers" or had they found what they were looking for?
