Hi Dave,

Hope you are well.

I was wondering how you manage to maintain your enthusiasm. When I speak to you its obvious that you still get a "kick" out of the subject and that you get a buzz from teaching, training and talking with like minded people.

As an example, when you realised that Billy Robinson had released a set of DVD's on catch your excitement at the prospect was tangible. What keeps you excited about the topic and eager to know more or see new things?

all the best
Chris

I guess its because I believe that personal combat is a science (not an art).. and as science constantly re-discovers and discovers new or undiscoverd things, so does combat.. sometimes its just something everyone has forgotten... so the subject is so rewarding way past the physical defence stuff and so DEEP.. its one of the deepest subjects I know... and I love emersing myself in it.
Its like exploring the universe ,, go through one door and there's dozens more

to see the development both physically and mentally in people I have had a hand in teaching is such a kick..

I know that each new piece of knowledge helps to fill in the jigsaw.....

my admiration for those who have gone before and for people willing to endure pain and suffering just to get one small piece of physical skill is astonishing,, I am humbled by being a minte part of it all..

I also feel, maybe slightly egotistically that if no one else is singing about it .. then I will..

I used to feel a bit 'smug' in what I considered my superior knowledge (all wrong I know now) now I feel sad when people who have been involved for decades (like Steve Hallam & Matt Hunter) say to me they feel they have wasted 20 years of their training careers ....

so my buzz is feedback and seeing people i admire improve even more, and knowng that there is still even more inside me to help them on their paths

thanks Chris because YOU are one of them ,,, an excellent SDF Black Belt
