| Hi John, I know it didn't happen a lot with you since your single or combo preemptive shot(s) usually took care of volatile situations quickly and clinically, but on the odd times when your preemptive shot(s) did not finish a fight, what did you tend to follow-up with? Did you mainly use hand strikes/punches? Any kicks, sweeps, knees, elbows, headbutts, etc in the follow-up mix? Did you focus on the head exclusively or vary the target areas (for example, shots to the ribs/liver/spleen/solar plexus)? Along these lines, can you recall roughly how many techniques it took on average to conclusively neutralize your adversary when you did have to follow-up? Oh, what would you say was the average timeline (i.e. how many seconds) with your follow-ups to finish off an opponent?
How much did grappling/ground fighting come into play for you?
Thanks much pal. I think your answers will provide valuable insights for those with less experience than yourself.

| When i went pre-emptive I mainly used punches to follow through i always train for four direct hits with forward momentum. Whoever i hit was usually out by the first or second punch the first one either k.o.ing them or subduing them enough to take the second hit which was final. I don't stop hitting until they are grounded.
There have been many times when i have f**cked up or they have been tough and not gone down with the first punch and its gone to grappling then i do the best i can to get back into punching and avoid the ground. if i go down i get back up again i fear the ground and use that fear to propel me to my feet, never go to ground in the street - if you do get back up by any means if you can't get back to your feet because your being held, bite, or gouge your way out. the eyes and the nose are very good targets but not the only ones saying that i don't know many people that want to lose there nose. Bite any part of the body and rip out as you bite. remember you will fire up a person so be prepared for a surge of agression which in turn can fire you up. Women are more than equel when it comes to biting scratching and tearing in fact the nails are a great DNA cathcher scratching is a good tool for men when you've been scratched you know about it!! its painful and looks l terrible. i like to call it raking its more masculine. Be prepared to be puked on bled on and when people are fighting scared thay can litterally crap themselves and it stinks worse than crap!!? If i had to follow through(opps! no pun intended) it was'nt a planned thing it was just good old fashioned brawling get stuck in. often the shirt was pulled over the head. knees driving into the face or torso never the legs etc,, using the hair or clothing to pull down and boot the face to bits with the toe cap. holding with one hand and hooking under the face with uppercuts. Also grabbing the shoulder garments and snatching to the pavement then booting and stamping the head and body. I never could remember actually wanting to target anything other than the head. Knees to the body and face got me out of the shoot a few times well worth drilling.
I've been on the ground too many times even though I'm a judo man I never wanted to be on the ground in a real go, a heel in the face can finish you quicker than a horny woman. Until the ufc came along ground and pound was a street thing kneeling either side of the chest and pounding the face with the fists just like playground fighting at a school. Also pinning the body with your own body weight and punching the side of the head was common. grappling to get back to your feet was the only way not just because you are vunerable to attack from outside forces but to make sure you did'nt or don't get arressted. Remeber fighting is not a sport it is a very fluid violent act some treat it like one they love it. It causes tremendouse heartache and not something to be courted even to test your skills do that in the gym! best to prepare for it though and train it all. The timescale varies so much but on average a min would be a long time. Of course running gang battles lasted longer but the fighting most of the time was sporadic explosions of action. Its really difficult to get a good solid hit in on the move you also have to have very good 360 awareness. a fight last secs and bloody crazy explosion of violence or a very precise clinicle action. i know which one i prefer. take care John

| Hi John, Thank you for the detailed reply my friend. Your post will give people who read it lots of food for thought...
Oh, regarding "shoot" appearing instead of sh**, I activated the word sensor feature of the board to change certain cuss words to "softer" words. I appreciate that expletives can accentuate a point, however, I did this because on the former board, there were some members who went a bit overboard with using them. Just trying to keep this place a bit "cleaner." Sorry for the inconvenience buddy.
Take care and thanks again.

| To add to the above i pre-emtively kick. I also do a walk in combination. I had a situation where i power slapped a guy he was pumped on the anabolic steroids he went down from the slap but not out he rose as i walked away and challenged me again i walked in and performed a kick combination which levelled him. The two kicks you should make your own are the roundhouse and the front kick the front kick is such a versatile kick; a stopper, a set up, a k.o kick, practice it hitting as hard as you can. obviously we have the head butt which has tremedouse k.o. potential if you know how and when to use it on the ground and standing. Also when armed with a firearm. !? take care John |
