| Hi Everyone, Besides fist and palm strike techniques to the head, what other techniques have you personally used or observed that have been effective in real-world engagements in all phase of combat (i.e. stand-up, clinch, ground fighting/grappling, and against a downed opponent)? I'm curious if we'll come to the same consensus and if there will be any unusual/unique techniques to surface.
Here are some of the techniques I've found/seen effective BESIDES palm/fist strikes to the head, which I've unequivocally found to be THE bread-and-butter in all phases.
STAND-UP: *Head butts to the face *Shovel hooks to both sides of the ribs (right side-liver, left side-spleen) *Round kicks to the side of the thighs/knees. *Front kicks to the groin. *Finger jab to the eyes. *Crosses/Piston punches to the solar plexus.
CLINCH: *Head butts to the face. *C-clamps on the throat. *Thumb gouges in the eyes. *Upward knee strikes to the face. *Upward knee strikes to the groin. *Uppercuts (fists and palms) to the groin. *Bites to the face (ears, nose, and cheeks). *"Chinese train wreck" maneuver (i.e. grabbing and ramming an opponent's head into a wall, post, or any solid object repeatedly). *Rear naked choke/strangle. *Guillotine
GROUND FIGHTING: *Ground-'n-Pound using head butts, elbows, and knees to the head, ribs, solar plexus, and groin from all dominant positions (i.e. mount, back mount, side mount, cross-body position, knee-on-stomach, etc). *Grabbing and smashing the head (face and back of the head) into the ground repeatedly (ground version of the "Chinese train wreck"). *C-clamps on the throat. *Rear naked choke/strangle. *Guillotine *Finger jabs & thumb gouges to the eyes. *Bites to the face, hands, arms, and body.
AGAINST A DOWNED OPPONENT: *Foot stomps to the head, body, groin, and legs/feet. *Soccer kicks to the head and body. *Knee drops to the head and body. *Round kicks to the head and legs.
Okay guys, your turn...

| Lito, i think you've covered most of them in that list. Things I have seen being effectively used.
Standing Head butt Front kick to groin
Standing clinch Head butt knee to groin
Downed opponent Bronco kick (basically jump on his head)

That sounds like a chapter from '#All in Fighting'
Just to add a couple of alternatives -
Standing face smash/two handed face smash
Upright grappling Rear naked choke applied from the front plus gouges Thunderclap into the above or any 'head manipulation.'

| Yes and the bronco kick was done with army issue steel reenforced leather soles that would flatten a skull. They were very heavy with a horseshoe heel and steel segs covering the majority of the sole. can you imagine the downward force of an angry intentional fear crazed stomp! doesn't bare thinking about.
Flat Punch to the sternum. leg sweep. hair grab and boot to the face. Standing Elbow choke and head smash. throat grab and head smash. kerbside arm brake.(overkill technique) but hey! shoving through plate glass windows absolute clssic in the uk (you will be suprised how many don't get injured but some do) really dangerouse. deliberatly pushing into road in front of car. even more dangerouse straight arm to the throat takes the legs right out. throat grab and twist to the ground or wall. most judo throws and trips always let go on the throws. | Purring or 'shin scrape' /ankle stamp in Standup and Clinch phases - more stable than kicks and rather nasty.
(I organise my own training by 'phase' too) |

| John That description makes me cringe.
The guy that I saw doing this did'nt know any technique, was half cut and wearing trainers but it still made you look away.

| The sychological effects of violence makes people pass out just a visual can do it or they can just break down and fall apart mentally. literally some scenes of violence or aftermath of accidents etc that the emergency services and armed forces witness are bizzare, frightening and metally disorientating, images that stay with the mind for the life time. Repects to all of those that do those jobs. Take care Alan John |
